Taft Advisors is a bipartisan, diverse, and experienced governmental affairs consulting firm specializing in client advocacy before federal, state, and local governments. Our team is comprised of accomplished professionals with extensive careers in public service and in senior political capacities. Our professionals utilize this experience to successfully advocate for client interests before the White House, U.S. Congress, and Executive Branch agencies, as well as governors, state legislatures, mayors, and other elected local officials throughout the Midwest.

OUR HISTORY

THE TAFT CONNECTION

As an affiliate of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, we offer our clients the additional resources and platform of a full-service law firm with more than 875 attorneys in eight primary Midwest markets and the District of Columbia. Taft traces its roots to 1885 and has a deep history in U.S. government, including the founding partners former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Robert A. Taft and Charles P. Taft II, sons of former President William Howard Taft. In addition, Robert Taft Jr. was a law firm partner and U.S. Senator from Ohio.

Taft believes effective government affairs representation begins with veteran policy professionals. Our highly experienced professionals bring diverse and bipartisan backgrounds and decades of federal, state, and local government experience to advocate for our clients.

Our multidisciplinary government relations professionals represent corporations, small and medium-sized companies, nonprofit organizations, and associations with matters before federal, state, and local legislative and executive branches of government. We design and implement successful advocacy strategies ranging from complex, federal, multi-year authorizations in Congress to municipal policy development.

Our diverse team’s decades of experience was gained by working with federal and state legislatures, federal, state, and local administrations, elected senior policy advisors, senior Congressional committee staff, and elected and appointed state positions – as well as – through leadership roles on campaign and election committees.

Our experienced state and local policy teams are present in all our markets, with our federal policy team’s national practice located in our Washington, DC office. We can provide coordinated federal, state, and local advocacy in all of our locations.

Federal Government Relations

Taft Advisors represents the interests of our clients before the White House, U.S. Congress, and federal agencies. Our bipartisan and diverse team works at the federal level with lawmakers and government officials to implement strategies and achieve solutions for our clients.

We work closely with our clients to identify and create opportunities to advocate for their interests and priorities. Our team has decades of experience writing and negotiating legislation in Congress and working successfully with executive branch agencies on regulations and other administration actions. We work to ensure that our clients’ interests are positioned properly and understood fully by the relevant parties on the front end so positive outcomes are achieved. This includes drafting legislation and regulations and then implementing a full range of activities to advance these proposals into law.

State and Local Government Relations

Our highly experienced professionals bring diverse and bipartisan backgrounds and decades of state and local government experience to advocate for our clients. We have long standing relationships with state and local government leaders and have represented clients in a wide range of legislative and regulatory matters. In addition, our team has drafted and guided legislation to passage on the state and local levels.

Our team works closely with mayors, city and township officials, lawmakers, and various agencies to keep them apprised of regulatory changes and to advocate for issues important to their success and growth.

Coalition Management

Our work to organize and bring together the interests of associations, ad-hoc coalitions, and other stakeholder groups is a core focus and competency. We have repeatedly negotiated and provided advice on major pieces of legislation and are skilled at working with numerous groups to reach consensus on strategies and objectives. Taft has a strong level of trust with stakeholder groups that we represent who value our fair representation of various party interests.
